Accent Reduction Professor
Professor Ina Ames, a Communications professor specializing in Voice and Articulation, needed a site that would put her best foot forward to potential clients for her online classes.
This was my first professional project using Bootstrap and responsive design techniques. The site was designed entirely by me, with graphic elements largely modified from stock photos.
I spoke to a number of Professor Ames’ current clients to develop user stories that would inform this design. For the most part, these users were a mix of tech-savvy, but very busy professionals who needed to be seen as native English speakers for their careers, and less technically inclined foreign-born students. The design therefore needed to get a complex point across in a minimal amount of time and mindspace, and I also wanted it to look technically savvy while remaining extremely user-friendly.
Thus, a single-page layout evoking the classic teacher-student relationship with a simple AJAX page refresh providing more targeted information according to the student’s needs. A video montage featuring samples of the Professor’s greatest hits, and a simple form to allow Professor Ames to complete a connection with prospective students rounds out this design.
